Vegetable production

This farm has a low fertility soil profile. Growing vegetables requires the most amount of physical energy of all the farms enterprises, including the need for high soil fertility. Veggie world is the site dedicated for horticulture production. This sight took a few years of prior soil preparation to begin vegetable production.
In 2010 we commenced our certified vegetable production enterprise. Part of the Veggie world production includes specially built chicken tractors that fit the width of our vegetable beds. The chickens are moved along the harvested beds facilitating in bed cultivation and prepping, in turn feeding the soil biology and increasing soil fertility.
This 2 acre paddock is set up as a vegetable production enterprise to produce 40 veggie boxes per week. This enterprise is based on supporting 1 family income.
